The 2024 ISAPP-SFA annual meeting is scheduled for

The SFA committee is pleased to announce that 25-30 abstracts from students and/or post-doctoral fellows working on probiotics/prebiotics/postbiotics/fermented food have been offered admission to the conference. A 3-night stay will be covered from 8-11 July 2024 and recipients will have the opportunity to claim a travel award ($250-$750 USD depending on distance) to help offset costs of attending the conference.

ISAPP-SFA Conference Cork, 2024

Registration

All SFA participants will register on the evening of Monday, July 8th. We will have a meet-and-greet (additional details to follow).


Accommodations

Accommodation is booked on your behalf by ISAPP-SFA. Check-in is on Monday, July 8th and check-out is Thursday, July 11th. Additional accommodation is the responsibility of the participant.


Meals

Meals during the conference will be provided by ISAPP. The cost of additional food or drinks beyond what is organized for the conference, including meals during travel, is the responsibility of the participant.


Posters

Each participant is required to present their research (based on the abstract submitted) on an A0 poster (841 mm x 1189 mm, 84.1 cm x 118.9 cm or 33.1 inches x 46.8 inches) The orientation must be portrait. Provisions to affix your poster will be available at the conference. Posters should be printed in advance of the event. There are no on-site printing facilities.


Travel

Details are below for air and ground transportation.


Please note: It is the responsibility of the traveller to determine if any travel visas are required, or if any proof of COVID vaccination or negative COVID testing is required.


Ground Transportation

If arriving at Dublin Airport:

Cork City is well served by the national bus carrier; Bus Eireann. The full schedule of buses and locations can be accessed here buseireann.ie. Other options include private bus companies that offer low-cost, express services from most major towns and cities across Ireland, including Dublin Airport to Cork city centre, namely Air Coach, GoBus.ie and City Link.

Dublin Airport has bus and taxi services available to transport you to Heuston Station (Dublin) with rail service to Cork City (Kent Station). A train journey from Heuston Station to Kent Station takes approximately 2hrs 15mins, depending on the time of day. Kent Station is located a 5-minute walk to Cork City and approximately a 25-minute walk to the conference site or you may take further bus or taxi travel from Kent Station to your destination.

If arriving at Cork Airport:

Cork Airport has regular bus and taxi services available outside the airport terminal building. Bus connections to/from the airport and Cork City Centre are provided by Bus Eireann (route numbers 226 and 225 to Cork city centre). Routes vary based on time of day. If planning to use a taxi service Cork Airport is approximately a 15-minute drive from the conference site and less than 10 minutes’ drive from Cork City centre.


Reimbursement

Grants available are up to $250 (USD) for those travelling within Europe and $750 (USD) for intercontinental participants. This includes air travel and reasonable ground transportation expenses for travel between the meeting venue, accommodation, and the destination airport up to the value of the grant. We appreciate your attention to be cost-conscious and to take public transport options where available and appropriate, with consideration to safe and efficient travel.


Non-reimbursable expenses include:

· costs for accompanying guests

· non-direct travel routings

· pre- or post-meeting activities

· additional nights’ accommodations or upgraded accommodations

· rental cars

· mileage to and from your departure airport

· parking at your departure airport

· any additional food or drinks outside the conference (including those incurred during travel)

Submission of travel expenses for reimbursement:

· After the conference, there will be an email with a form attached for each attendee to complete to receive their bursary.
